Alma in the United States
Director: Magaly Abigail Romero
Magaly began her dancing and music journey at the age of 4. Ballet, tap, and jazz were some of the first styles she trained in before making the change to becoming a musician. She studied percussion and drum rhythms for 10 years and eventually transitioned back to dance. She has been learning and training in latin rhythms for 10+ years through and endless amount of dance festivals, workshops, private lessons, etc and has been a part of various co-ed and ladies dance teams before creating her own dance company called Brownsville Salsa and building a new Latin community in her city for the past 3 years. In the summer of 2018, she began directing Alma Brownsville, where she currently directs both men's and ladies' bachata teams which will be starting their second season in March. Magaly has recently opened a new dance studio in Brownsville, Texas where she teaches a variety of styles to continue sharing the love of dance and all its benefits with her community. Her long term goal is to one day compete with Alma Brownsville.
